Informed investment decisions from the earliest stage

Our prefeasibility studies give project developers, funders and public authorities a clear, quantified view of a project’s potential. They rely on qualified data and a documented method, so that every conclusion can be checked.

Our studies help your teams:

  • Rule out sites and configurations that do not hold up, early on
  • Compare several options on a common, transparent basis
  • Quantify energy yield and costs with their uncertainty
  • Give funders a sourced, verifiable file

Backed by our knowledge of West African energy data, our studies reduce the risk of later phases and speed up decisions.

  • Solar plants, mini-grids, hybrid systems and solar pumping

  • From a single site to a site portfolio and a national programme

  • Sourced assumptions and quantified uncertainty

Reduce risk before detailed studies

A sound prefeasibility study avoids commissioning in-depth studies for a project that cannot succeed. It brings out, from the start, the factors that decide its success: resource, site constraints and cost level.

With our studies, you can:

  • Identify the factors that determine the project’s success
  • Focus the study budget on the strongest options
  • Prepare the terms of reference for the detailed feasibility study

Compare options on a common basis

Sites, technologies and system sizes are assessed with the same data, assumptions and method. Differences between options then come from the project itself.

The study lets you:

  • Rank candidate sites by potential
  • Compare PV alone, hybridisation and storage
  • Measure the project’s sensitivity to key assumptions

A file your funders can verify

Every input points to its source and a dated release. Energy yield is given as P50 and P90, and every economic assumption is listed.

The file presents:

  • Solar resource from series calibrated on ground measurements, where available
  • Energy yield, investment costs and levelised cost of energy
  • Identified risks and our recommendations for next steps

What the study covers

  • Resource assessment

Irradiance and climate series for the site, with their confidence grade.

  • Preliminary technical sizing

Proposed configuration, installed capacity and annual energy yield as P50 and P90.

  • Economic estimate

Investment and operating costs, levelised cost of energy and profitability indicators.

  • Risk analysis

Site constraints, sensitivities and issues to resolve at feasibility stage.

  • Prefeasibility report

A summary document with its sources, ready to share with your partners.

How a study unfolds

  1. 01

    Scoping

We define with you the project, the sites, the options to compare and the timeline.

  2. 02

    Data collection and qualification

We gather site and resource data and check its quality.

  3. 03

    Analysis

We assess each option on technical and economic grounds.

  4. 04

    Presentation

We present the results and deliver the report, with our recommendations.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between prefeasibility and feasibility?

Prefeasibility establishes whether a project is worth pursuing and which options to keep. The detailed feasibility study follows, on the selected option, with in-depth field studies.

Which countries do you work in?

Across West Africa. In Guinea, our studies rely on series calibrated on ground measurements. Elsewhere, they use satellite products with documented uncertainty.

How long does a study take?

It depends on the number of sites and options studied. It is set at scoping, together with the scope and price.

Can you use our own data?

Yes. Measurements, records or bills you provide are integrated and qualified in the same way as our data.

Are the results kept confidential?

Yes. A study carried out for a client belongs to that client and is not published.
