Some local data exists, such as national weather stations, one-off studies or university theses. It is scattered, and no source brings it together or keeps it up to date.
Sizing decisions and project economics therefore rest on data calibrated elsewhere.
A sizing study cannot be more reliable than the data behind it.
When that data is poorly calibrated for the site, its error propagates into funders' assumptions and project economics.
Kuma Science builds, maintains and publishes a local reference dataset to reduce that error.

The portal follows the same method. Assumptions and formulas are documented, uncertainty is quantified for each locality, and dated releases can be cited and checked later.
The data engine is free software and the reference dataset is openly licensed. Both have a permanent DOI.

KUMA SCIENCE SARL is a company incorporated under Guinean law in Conakry on July 9, 2026. It designs and operates the Kuma ecosystem, which includes the data infrastructure, the software and the API. It also provides services and training to institutions and businesses.
